Nature is fundamental in the learning process of the elementary child. Montessori encouraged children to be free and play outdoors, even in the rain. These experiences lay the foundation for the work of the second plane child. Free play outdoors encourages resilience, creativity, collaboration, empathy, and a sense of belonging. This workshop will explore how to create and facilitate authentic nature exploration for all learners.

This presentation will focus on a pilot study of public Montessori teachers’ experiences with teacher evaluation and professional growth. Findings will connect to adult development theories, Montessori appraisal tools, and strategies to facilitate professional growth in public and private settings.
