(AM Keynote Address) Awestruck Leadership: Igniting Adult Transformation for a Thriving Montessori Community
Friday February 21, 2025 9:15am - 10:30am CST
In the last several decades, the role of emotions in learning has made a significant impact on the science of education, especially relevant for Montessori leaders. This keynote delves into the transcendent effects of awe and wonder within Montessori communities, illuminating how reflective awareness of awe can ignite lifelong learning. Participants will explore how this heightened state of consciousness fosters a sense of interconnection and interdependence, which transfers into transformative leadership practices. Drawing from speaker Tammy Oesting’s research, this address expands on how Montessori administrators can transcend mechanical applications, creating a collective liberatory and ecological consciousness in their schools. By integrating the science of learning, cosmic tendencies, and indigenous worldviews, this keynote invites leaders to reimagine adult education systems that foster spiritual transformation and cultivate responsive, emotionally aware Montessori practitioners.

Developing a Culture of Philanthropy
Friday February 21, 2025 2:15pm - 3:30pm CST
Whether you call it fundraising, development, or advancement, raising money to support your school is among the most pressing priorities for most independent schools. And yet, it can often be hard to find the time to make that happen or to know the most effective ways to drive giving in your school community. In this session, Stacy will define what a "culture of philanthropy" actually means, share why storytelling and relationship building must be at the very core of any fundraising efforts, and offer some concrete strategies to integrate into your school that won't just help you raise money but will help you boost engagement and investment with teachers, parents, and potential donors.

Friday February 21, 2025 3:45pm - 5:00pm CST
This seminar is presented by two Montessorians with deep tech experience who will help ground you in the most pressing issues surrounding AI use in schools. You will learn about the potential risks and benefits of AI, as well as participate in discussions about current AI use in school communities. Questions covered will include: Should I establish a school-wide AI policy and, if so, how? What are the ethics of AI use in classrooms? Is it “cheating” for students to use AI? Is it a wise time-saver for teachers to use AI to provide student feedback? How can I deploy teacher and student AI education, protect their data privacy and watch for bias in AI tools?
