About me
Kirsten Parr is an accomplished education professional with extensive experience in curriculum development, instructional leadership, and educational consulting. Since February 2023, she has been serving as the Project Lead for Standards & Instruction at the Illinois State Board of Education, where she previously held the position of Board Services Coordinator from March 2020 to February 2023.
Before her tenure at the state board, Kirsten was the Director of Educational Services at Illini Central CUSD #189 from July 2016 to February 2020 and previously served as the Director of Teaching and Learning within the same district from July 2014 to June 2016. She also worked as an Educational Consultant at the Louisiana Department of Education and contributed as an EdReports reviewer at EdReports.org.
Kirsten brings many years of classroom teaching experience in early elementary, having taught at Germantown Hills Elementary and Illini Central School District #189. She also served as an RTI Coordinator/Interventionist at Brimfield Grade School, further deepening her expertise in student support and instructional strategies.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Illinois College, a Master of Arts in Teaching and Leadership from Saint Xavier University, and administrative certifications from the University of Illinois Springfield.
